Back Ancestors (Poem)

ANCESTORS

Oh! Ancestors! I am weary!
But how great the weight, through thick and thin,
did you carry?

Oh! Ancestors! I am hurting!
But how deep was your grief, when loved ones lost,
did you bury?

Oh! Ancestors! I fear the worst!
Yet how keen your courage, when doom seemed destined,
save for your daring?

Forefathers! Foremothers! Ancestors All!
It is your dream of future days now calling!
Our line has lingered long in this world!
Help me find the bones and brave blood,
you gifted us!
