Zartian Anglochristianity

Zartian Anglochristianity is a new framework for an English religion with some parallels to Christianity but based essentially on another religious framework called Zartianism.

Zartianism itself is a modern re-imagining of the ancient but still living tradition of Zoroastrianism founded by the philosopher Zoroaster.

Zoroaster, also known as Zarathustra, lived hundreds of years before the time of Jesus in ancient Iran. He composed a text in the form of songs which set out his ideas on good and evil. This has been handed down to us as the Zartigathas or 'Songs of Zoroaster' which as well as being a foundation text of the Zoroastrian religion has also had a big influence on development of world philosophy and religion including Christianity.

Zoroaster was concerned with the question of Good and Evil in human affairs and how Mankind might bring about the Good Society marked by righteous order and human flourishing. The Good News that he brought is that the world works according to logical principles and that if we can master these principles with our minds then we will be able to speak the good words and take the right actions that are needed to overcome evil and bring about the best state of existence.

Heavenly parents

Zartians recognise the Heavenly Parents (also called the Cosmic Parents) who are the Male and Female aspects of the wise creative and sustaining power of God. Anglozartians give the name Tiew to the Heavenly Father, and Frigga to the Heavenly Mother.

Mighty Christ

The Mighty Christ (or Mighty Servant) is the wise power of God working through the actions of human beings. It is not automatic that people can be a good channel for the agency of God. It depends on them adopting something of the character of God , i.e. becoming 'christ-like'. It is the task of Zartians to endeavour to become more christ-like so that God can better do His work through them.

Chrestors

Chrestors are human 'saviours' of the world (in Persian 'saoshyant'). Chrestors are people who work to help the living world by taking on the nature of the Mighty Christ.

Historically among both Zoroastrians and Christians there has been a trend to rest all hopes of positive change on the arrival of some superhuman person in the future. While extraordinary leaders can have an outsize influence, as Zartians we emphasize that everybody should be trying to be saviours of the world. Good leaders depend on other good people to create the conditions for them to be successful.

It is the agenda or purpose of Zartians to become good chrestors. We struggle towards the Good. We seek to play our part in the healing of the world from its corruption. We seek to stand against all deviation from the path of truth and righteousness. We work to restore the world it to its pristine freshness. We push for the righteous order that brings the common flourishing.

The Chalipa

The Chalipa is a symbol used by Zartians to represent the religion. The symbol is made up of an equilateral cross potent superimposed with a typically seven-flamed firepot in a circle all enclosed by a larger circle. Chalipa means 'cross' in Persian and refers particularly to the sun cross at the centre of the symbol as well as the whole symbol.
