Our Week

The Alfredanist week starts on a Monday.

(It is a historical anomaly that the Christian week starts on a Sunday - the Day of Rest!)

Monday is both 'Moon-Day' and 'Earth-Day'
As we look up at the Moon as a planet, we reflect also on the Earth as a planet. We pray that the Earth is kept safe from all things that may harm it and make it unfriendly to us.

Tuesday is 'Tew's Day'
We pray for Good Order in our world, and reflect on where there is bad order and lack of justice, and pray that Tew will help us put it right.

Wednesday is 'Woden's Day'
We pray to Woden that he may give us Wisdom that we may see how best to serve God (or Christ or Saint Alfred).

Thursday is 'Thor's Day'
We pray to Thor for practical help, to sort out the little and big problems of our day-to-day lives.

Friday is 'Frigga's Day'
We pray to Frigga to nurture our family, our Alfredanist fellowship and our wider community, and to provide us with good food and care.

Saturday is 'Saint Alfred's Day'
We pray to Saint Alfred and Lady Elswith to lead us well. We pray for their strength and happiness and that of our nation. We remember also our ancestors.

Sunday is 'Christ Day'
We pray to Christ that He may give us strength to serve Him, and we consider also those who may be in need of charity.

Sunday is also 'Sun-Day' and the Sun may shine with the warm loving light of Christ, or with the cold penetrating light of Lucifer. We must renew our determination to serve the former and defeat the latter.
