Neo-Saxonism

The English are living in changing circumstances. For a long time the English have defined themselves simply as the inhabitants of England. If you were born in England , or your parents were, you considered yourself English, and there was not much need to think further about the subject.

Today however England is becoming home to a whole host of different ethnic groups from around the world. This is forcing the English to re-evaluate what it means to be English, and how to manage their lives in a multi-ethnic territory.

Neosaxonists believe that ethnic solidarity is something important. It is important to associate with people who have a shared culture and identity as yourself. It enables people to work and live together in a harmonious way.

The Saxon English

Neosaxonists consider that the mainstream English population can be identified by their descent from the peoples of Old England - what we call Anglo-Saxon England - the England before the Norman Conquest. A good part of this population were descended from Germanic peoples of the North Sea coast, while the other part were descendents of the pre-existing Britons of the land. However these peoples fused to become the Anglo-Saxon people of Old England.

We would argue that to be fully English you need to be a descendent of this population of Old England, or otherwise so similar to those who are that it makes no difference. Nevertheless we accept that the issue of Englishness is not so cut and dried. Many people have a reasonable claim to be at least partly English, who don't match this definition.

Thus where necessary to avoid fruitless arguments over who is or isn't really English, we use the term Saxon English for those who fit the stricter definition.

Saxon Tribalism

We believe that the Saxon English need to organize themselves and form cultural associations around their ethnicity. We think of this as the first steps in re-tribalization. Living in a land where people of other ethnic groups are much more ethnically conscious than us, we are at a disadvantage. Individualism is not a good political strategy when you face others who are organized with a strong collective identity. So we should aim to form tribes of our own.

Saxon Religion

We understand that a common religion can be a focus and a support for a tribal community. We seek to develop new forms of religion. Neosaxonist religion should not exclusively identify as heathen or christian, but seek to accommodate both approaches.

The World Struggle

The peoples of the world are in a struggle for the common flourishing against the designs of the selfish and powerful few. The Saxon community should seek to play their due part in this struggle. Wherever practical they should seek friendship and solidarity with fair-minded peoples of other ethnic communities in this common endeavour.

Our purpose is to build a community of people who identify as mainstream English (ie. at least more English that anything else) - and who don't want to be just passive bystanders in the changes happening to society, but want to make their own wishes count for something.
